Adopting New Workflow During COVID-19 Pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals are forcing to adjust the original procedures and adopt new applications to keep the safety and quality of treatment and patient care. While providing treatment for infected patients, these new workflows are to eliminate the unnecessary physical interactions under social distancing protocol and protect staff and patients from the Infection.
1. Remote Triage: To reduce the visit in the emergency room, patient conditions can be assessed in the clinic by remote triage, using the 12-lead ECG for health prescreening and the computerized workstation integrating tele-conferencing software. General practitioners can decide whether to transfer the patients to hospitals for further treatment.
2. Telemedicine/Tele-consultation: For chronic patients who regularly visit hospitals back and forth, tele-consultation workstation helps makes real-time diagnosis and gives patients health advice without having infection risk while going to the hospitals.
3. Tele-ICU: To safely monitoring patients being infected, vital signs are transmitted by hospital network to the monitoring center where doctors can give orders immediately. Tele-ICU also reduces exposure risk of nursing staffs by decreasing visiting times at quarantine area.
4. New Workflow in Quarantine Area:
-
Infusion pump extension set: The extension sets for positioning infusion pumps outside the negative pressure ward allows nursing staffs to replenish drip without interacting with the COVID-19 patients.
-
Cleanable medication cart: Durable, easy-to-disinfect medication cart with multiple storage capability minimizes shifts of ward-round service.
